Revoke access to a PDF after you've already sent it

When you create a Guarded document with iGuardPDF, it's shared through a link rather than as a plain file attachment. That link stays under your control from your dashboard: you can revoke it at any time, and the next attempt to open it — whether that's a minute later or a month later — is blocked.

This is a meaningful difference from emailing a PDF directly. Once a plain file leaves your outbox, there is no way to reach into it and shut off access — the file itself has no connection back to you. A share link does, for as long as it hasn't already been downloaded as a raw copy.

With a normal PDF attachment, access is effectively permanent from the moment it's sent — there's no way to undo it. That's a real gap for any document where circumstances might change: a deal falls through, a recipient's access should have expired, or a document was sent before you realized it shouldn't have been.

Revocable access closes that gap. It's important to be clear about what it does and doesn't cover: revoking a share link stops the link from working — it doesn't reach into a raw copy someone already downloaded before revocation. That's exactly why fingerprinting matters alongside revocation, so a downloaded copy is still traceable even after the link is gone.
